Starting Spring Break Right

Starting Spring Break Right

Hi, Victoria here, one of National School Project’s Campus Mentors! After months of planning and praying with our high school students, we are excited to spend this week participating in rallies and witnessing at 10 high schools in the Biola Chapter!

Our week of events kicked off on Monday with prayer walks at Norwalk High School, Ellen Ochoa Preparatory Academy, Glen A. Wilson High School, Brea Olinda High School, El Modena High School, and Pacifica High School. These 8 A.M. walks gave us a refreshing start off on our day with the Lord, and an opportunity to pray over events that will be happening at each of these schools as well as the students, teachers, pastors, and volunteers involved.

After engaging in small group bible studies, some Campus Mentors went to the Christian club meeting at Brea Olinda HS to train students in witnessing! After that, we all went witnessing! On one trip a group of us partnered with Ratio Christi, an apologetics ministry that trains and equips university students, and shared the gospel at the University of California, Irvine. Many students seemed either too busy to talk or preferred not to engage in conversation. However, a girl named Liz talked with us for half an hour and it was evident that she was searching for a peaceful religion that could fill the spiritual need in her heart. Please pray that her searching will lead her to the Prince of Peace who can satisfy her soul.

Another group at Glen A. Wilson HS had great conversations with students about the gospel during their trip. Campus mentors David Johnson and Emily Rice came across Kasey, who had never heard about Jesus until they shared with him that afternoon. Emily was especially touched to see a student respond positively to the gospel message and have so many thoughtful comments and questions. Although he did not make a commitment, we are praying that he would continue to seek out who Jesus is.

We’re so excited to see our week of ministry begin well and would like you to join us in our rejoicing and pray for us as we continue to work: Please pray for boldness to fill our club leaders at Pacifica HS, Brea Olinda HS, Santa Fe HS, Buena Park HS, and Ellen Ochoa HS, all of whom will be witnessing this week. Pray also for Tuesday’s rallies, that students hear and respond to the gospel. The club at El Modena HS will be sharing a message of healing found in Christ over the course of the week and students at Pacifica HS will be bringing in speakers to talk about forgiveness with their peers.

Thank you for your prayers! We’ll keep you updated on all the wonderful things God is doing this week! God Bless!
