Yesterday was a day filled with prayer, witnessing, and the first Fremd High School Rally in Palatine, Illinois.
Katie, Abby, Emily and Emily (students at Fremd) planned a prayer meeting for bright and early in the morning where Cassie, Lainey, and Michael (from the Biola team) joined them at 6:45am. The 7 prayed together for the day, the rally, and the students. A great way to start the day!
That same morning, Lainey received an encouraging e-mail from pastor Rick Wager from Grace Community Church. He wrote, “Keep making a difference. I am on my knees!”
…and then it was time for the first rally.
The rally encouraged Uprising members with a turnout of 38 students. The audience was mostly Christian students, and the speaker, Jason Colley from Young Life, addressed the question “Why do bad things happen to good people?” Jason, the speaker at the rally, explained to the students how the question is answered by two things. 1) God gave us free will so we could choose to love Him of our own accord. We used that free will to go our own selfish way. 2) In light of His character, God did everything that He possibly could to save us from suffering by giving us the hope of a life without suffering in heaven one day.
Katie, above, played a video about how God brings healing amid suffering to His people to illustrate that even while we are still on Earth, God is active in our lives. She challenged Uprising students to bring their friends to the rest of the rallies happening this week. Katie gave the students incentive by announcing that they will get one extra raffle entry to win an iPod shuffle for every friend they bring.
The Biola team enjoyed a wonderful dinner, hosted by the Suiter family, and then met several students from Fremd and Palatine back at Woodfield Mall where we shared the good news of Jesus with 43 people.
Praise God for George, who came to know Jesus Christ as his personal savior at Woodfield mall! Please pray that he is able to grow quickly in his relationship with God.
Please Pray:
-That the seeds planted today will take root in people’s hearts by the power of the Holy Spirit
-That Uprising students would bring their friends to the rallies at both schools
-For the health of everyone involved, especially Heather and Katie, Uprising leaders at Palatine and Fremd.
Cassie, Lainey, and Jessica
