These Students Are Bold

I feel like I’m finally comfortable witnessing to high school students. I’m 25. I could be their teacher.

Could I have done that when I was in high school? I doubt it.

Last month I had the opportunity to join with some Christian club students at Carson high school. They were going to talk to their peers about Jesus and we “old folks” were just tagging along. That day “Andrew,” a high schooler, and I talked with around 10 students, some he knew, about God. Afterwards, I asked him why he did this.

He said, “It’s all about us, others and God. The more I get to know God, the more I want to share Him with others.”

Amen, brother. May I learn from you.

God’s work at Torrance HS

The week after Easter, the Christian club at Torrance High School hosted a rally in the school’s gymnasium.

280 students showed up.

The crowd in the gym

The club put on a gospel-centered skit to the Lighthouse song, “Everything,” and one of the club leader’s youth pastor presented the gospel to the crowd.

After his presentation he gave the opportunity for the students to give their lives to Christ.

10 students did.

Cassie, the CSP mentor at Torrance, explained, “The club President, Callie, was very encouraged by how smoothly the rally went, how many students came, and the impact it had on her campus!”

Praise God with us for His great work!

An Introduction to Christ

She is a senior at Lakewood high school. She had grown up Catholic, but had never been shown the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

Last Friday, nine campus mentors stepped onto Lakewood’s campus to witness to the lost.

Two mentors out of the nine were given the privilege of introducing the girl mentioned earlier to Jesus Christ.

Natalie, one of the mentors, said, “’The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.’ I’m glad God is using us as workers.”

Lainey, the other campus mentor who helped lead this young girl to salvation, was eager to encourage prayer for the girl.

“This was her first introduction to Christ.”

Western: Everything is falling into place!

This past week Dan and Melissa, CSP Mentors, sat down at Starbucks with Western’s Christian Club leaders and started to dream together. Dan and Melissa divided a piece of paper into seven sections for the months of November through May while students brainstormed. By the end of the meeting Western students had planned out 4 different events, 1 of which is scheduled before Christmas break! Next Semester students are looking to host a rally focused on God’s  love around Valentine’s Day, distribute Christian materials on their campus around Easter,  and outreach to the seniors at their highschool in May!

Even more recently, Western’s Christian club decided to share the gospel with their student body face to face! Club members and CSP members met after school this Friday and scattered across campus, striking up conversations with students about God!

Prayer Requests: “That everything goes smoothly”- Dan, CSP Mentor

Praise: After a while of trying to kick things off, Western is now meeting with CSP mentors regularly. As Dan puts it, “everything is falling into place.”

Kerygma Christian Club

In review of October 30, Kerygma Christian Club received a lot of positive exposure during Lakewood High School’s homecoming weekend. CSP leaders, Lainey and Brandon, reported that 360 cotton candy cones were sold during the carnival. As a result, Lakewood High School students gained information on their Christian Club, Kerygma.

Prayer request: That the exposure of Kerygma would allow the students of Lakewood who were unaware of this club to ask questions and to get involved.
