Pray for Follow-up, Unity, Witnessing, and God’s work @ Fullerton

Club president Laurel asks for your prayers for Fullerton High.  The club had their first rally a few weeks ago with a great turn out–300 people!

-> Pray for follow-up with people from the rally

-> There are four denominations represented within the club… which shouldn’t cause any trouble… yet it could cause some divisions…  Please pray for unity in the club.

-> Pray for the witnessing.  Three students go out each Friday to share Jesus on their own.  They want more club-members to go!  Pray for hearts to be open.

  • The campus mentors are having a hard time scheduling to meet with the club leaders.  Even if that were not a problem, the administration does not want them on campus at club meetings.  So please pray that the mentors would be able to meet with the club leaders.
  • Pray that the Lord would be able to work through the club again this semester, even with a tougher administration.

II Thess. 3:3 But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you…

Thanking God and praying for His continued work–Thank you!

I will sing of the steadfast love of the LORD, forever; with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 89:1

Dear prayer partner,

We are thanking God for a good week of ministry and fellowship, with each other and the students.

At Cal High’s rally, a Biola student named Fwas shared a deep message with 50+ students.  God had had truly filled the gap in his life, even after abuse, suicide attempts, thievery, and drugs.  Campus light students took initiative by giving their peers 40 tracks, 40 Gospel of John books, and some “The Case for Christ” DVDs.

Fifteen students from four schools were encouraged about the impact they could make on their campus when they met with some mentors at Troy high school.  Sharing Jesus in personal evangelism went well at Fullerton and California High.  Though some students were indifferent to hearing about Jesus, others appreciated taking spirituality seriously.

Really, the work at the schools we have worked with has just begun, and the main work we have done is to open up horizons for a life of outreach for the students. We are praying for God’s continued work at La Habra, California, Western, Fullerton, and Troy High Schools and their student leaders.

For more updates about what happened this week and in CSP, you can subscribe to the story of the week at www.californiaschoolproject.com. Or see specific school updates at www.blog.californiaschoolproject.com.

Thank you for partnering with us in your prayers.  We understand that spiritual victories are accomplished by spiritual means, and prayer is an essential part of developing leaders to make an impact for Christ.

More Christian club rallies and students reaching more students

Dear prayer partner,

It is good to participate in God’s good work!  Cal High’s Campus Light students invited one of their youth pastors share his testimony at their first rally this year.  He shared with 50 attentive students how God had saved him from being a drug-using sex-addict.  At La Habra High’s second rally, Pastor Chris McCulluck shared insights on the apostle Paul with another full house.  He clearly but genuinely presented the gospel.  Additionally, the club distributed a hundred more tracks and Gospel of John books.  Students asked for prayer after the rally and want to initiate a monthly Bible study.  God’s word and truth had impact on both campuses, making the rallies a success.  Praise the Lord!

Friday is perhaps the biggest day of campus involvement this week.

  • Cal High is hosting another rally.
  • CSP Mentors are meeting with Troy High School for the first time to share what students can do and how we can help mentor them.
  • We pray for the Lord’s empowerment as we share Jesus in personal evangelism with students at Cal High andFullerton High.

It has been a blessed week, full of God’s workings even as he works in unseen ways.  We desire to finish strong.  Thank you for continuing to bring these outreaches before Father God in your prayers!

Sincerely in Christ,

~Team January Project

January Project Detail Update

As we begin this week of the January Project many exciting and interesting happenings arose. To start the first night of January Project, 1/17/10, CSP members met at Starbucks and God began His work. God specifically drew CSP mentor Zach DeVesta aside to speak to a struggling individual about the Lord. The resulting conversation consisted of a testimony of a broken man who had lost all hope in the grace of Jesus Christ.

· Tuesday: went to visit La Habra to hang posters, pass out flyers to promote this week’s events that La Habra’s Christian club has worked so diligently to compile.
· Wednesday: Trevor Ford will be playing worship at La Habra’s Christian Club during lunch. Pizza will also be freely distributed to the individuals that are interested in attending this event.  Fullerton and California High School students will be sharing Jesus with their peers.   Please continue to pray for the spirit’s work in all this spiritual outreach!
· Thursday: Chris McCulluck will be offering a Bible study during the lunch period of the La Habra students. The Christian Club will be offering free pizza with courtesy to La Habra High School.
· Friday: La Habra’s Christian Club is still constructively deciding upon the activities of Friday.
Tuesday, January 19th, CSP mentor’s Zachary DeVesta, Danielle Decena, Dan Getzfred, and Michael Towson visited La Habra High School to help hang posters and pass out flyers to promote the Christian Club’s week long event. We had roughly thirty students from the Christian club participate in the hanging and distributing of the posters and flyers. Many of the students separated into small groups to their fellow peers that were still on campus with regards to the rain. It was truly a blessing that it had rained because students at La Habra are allowed to go off campus during lunch period and due to the weather they all remained on campus to receive the posters and flyers regarding the weeklong event. These posters included questions and statements such as, “Are you satisfied?” “Do you feel alone?” “Come to the Campus Light meeting this week and discuss your questions about God with us.” Thanks to the hard work that the La Habra Christian Club put into the making of these materials, it looks promising that many students will have the opportunity to hear the Word of God.

The January Project Prepares to Share Jesus

“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.  How are they to call on one they have not believed in? And how are they to believe in one they have not heard of?”  Romans 10:13-14a

Dear prayer partner,

The January Project has begun–a full week of CSP ministry focus and outreach, praise the Lord!  Students made posters and shared plans for an exciting week of rallies at La Habra and California High Schools.  Students will promote their rallies on Tuesday.  The rallies launch on Wednesday!

The Campus Light club at California High is amazingly self-motivated and unified. Please pray that their enthusiasm for spiritual things would continue when as they share Jesus with their peers every day for the rest of the week.  La Habra high is doing great!  Pray for boldness.  Students from both schools are sharing Jesus with their campus tomorrow in personal witnessing. It’s our prayer that God would open the hearts of students, to do this spiritual work by His Spirit.

Thank the Lord with us that schools are ready for a week outreach!  We pray it would be life changing.

Fullerton Moves Forward!

Fullerton High School is coming together to advance the gospel on their campus! CSP Mentors, Ben and Rachel, have expressed that Fullerton’s administrative staff is really strict about what clubs are able to do, including the Christian club. Ben and Rachel are meeting with club leaders this week to plan around the restrictions set in place by Fullerton’s administration. Despite opposition, Fullerton is looking at a possible rally for December 11th!

Western: Everything is falling into place!

This past week Dan and Melissa, CSP Mentors, sat down at Starbucks with Western’s Christian Club leaders and started to dream together. Dan and Melissa divided a piece of paper into seven sections for the months of November through May while students brainstormed. By the end of the meeting Western students had planned out 4 different events, 1 of which is scheduled before Christmas break! Next Semester students are looking to host a rally focused on God’s  love around Valentine’s Day, distribute Christian materials on their campus around Easter,  and outreach to the seniors at their highschool in May!

Even more recently, Western’s Christian club decided to share the gospel with their student body face to face! Club members and CSP members met after school this Friday and scattered across campus, striking up conversations with students about God!

Prayer Requests: “That everything goes smoothly”- Dan, CSP Mentor

Praise: After a while of trying to kick things off, Western is now meeting with CSP mentors regularly. As Dan puts it, “everything is falling into place.”
